What should you gather before you start?
Most of the time goes into finding dates. Before you open the form, collect:
- Every address for the last 10 years, with month and year in and out, including share houses, student housing and temporary stays.
- Every trip outside Australia in the last 10 years, with exact dates: old passports, boarding passes, booking emails and bank statements help.
- Every job, and every gap between jobs or study, with month and year, the employer’s full name and address.
- All tertiary education: institution, course, dates and whether you completed it.
- Details of all passports, including expired, lost or stolen ones, and national ID numbers.
- Names, dates and places of birth, citizenships and countries of residence for your partner, children, parents and siblings.
Keep the dates consistent with the rest of your application, including your relationship statements and your witnesses’ Form 888s.
What does “no gaps in the timeline” mean?
Form 80 asks for your address history and your employment history “with no gaps in the timeline”. If there are gaps, it says you must explain them at Part T – Additional information. Unemployment counts as part of the employment history, including time between jobs or study.
How do you fill in and submit Form 80?
The form says to open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader and type in English, or print it and complete it in English in BLOCK LETTERS. It ends with a declaration you sign and date (Part S). For partner visas, you attach the completed form to your application in ImmiAccount. See the partner visa document checklist for the other character documents, such as police certificates.
